Guides
Guides is our section for girls aged 10-14 and is all about expanding their horizons and pushing their personal limits.
By becoming a part of a worldwide community of girls who learn together and share skills and experiences, Guides have the chance to get out there and do something really different.
Guide Promise
Each Guide will be encouraged to make their Guide Promise. This usually happens after a Guide has been attending Guides for a little while, and their leader thinks they are ready. Once the promise has been made, each Guide gets a shiny new badge to wear on the left side of their uniform - symbolising their commitment to Guides.

In Carmarthenshire, many units run as dual-language units, providing activities in English and Welsh. As such, the Guide Promise is also available in both languages.
Guide Programme
Guides follow an age-appropriate programme full of adventure, activities and fun, working towards a variety of interest badges, skills builders and theme awards to earn a coveted Guides Gold Award. Working towards these awards teaches commitment and can help build self-confidence.
Guides aged 13+ may also challenge themselves by working towards their Commonwealth Award where they will learn about Guiding and life in the Commonwealth, or begin working towards the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. Click here to find out more about the Commonwealth Award.
Within the unit, Guides will earn skills builder badges in themes such as camping and first aid through our skills builders and unit meeting activities.
At home, we'd encourage them to complete some of our fabulous interest badges such as Campaigning, Fitness & Fixing.

Guides may also choose to work towards their camp permit, providing them with additional camping skills, or become a Rainbow or Brownie helper, returning to Rainbows or Brownies to help inspire the next generation of Guiding members.
That's not all our Guides have the chance to do. Trips, adventures and sleepovers are things units in Carmarthenshire regularly do. From County Fun Days to Rock Climbing, Camping to International Holidays, your Guide will have unlimited chances to feed their taste for adventure with us.
